Smidge are an eco-friendly company with a mission to reduce plastic pollution and help make everyday products a bit more reusable – which we think is great! Smidge have a mission to be affordable, responsible and optimistic with the planet in mind. We’ve stocked the new Smidge products in all of our wonderful stores, and on our website here.

It’s startling to think, annually, more than 2.5bn Single-Use Coffee Cups are thrown away, of which 99.75% cannot be recycled! Smidge’s new product is a perfect solution to help reduce this catastrophically high number. Available in two sizes: 250ml & 400ml, we are really impressed with this new travel mug from Smidge. Not just another travel cup, these new products are 100% and made from plant materials derived from Corn! Every part of the cups has been designed with the environment in mind. Even better, many coffee shops offer a discount to bring your own cup – a great incentive!
The cup does not contain any plastic, melamine, chemicals or bonding agent, so it’s great for the environment, and even better for us. The cup is fully microwavable – perfect for when you’re so busy that you forget you’ve made your brew! The silicone band supplied with the cup is for comfort and safety whilst drinking and transporting your hot drink, and can be recycled with your plastics at home when you no longer need it.
The final reason that these cups are fantastic is because of how easy they are to clean, just pop it in the dishwasher!
A second great new product from Smidge, are their great Slice Chopping Boards! Crafted from recycled and sustainably sourced recycled paper, the boards are incredibly hard wearing and sharp blade proof. Available in three sizes, all sizes of the boards have silicone feet to grip to your worksurface and prevent slips but can be easily popped off to give the board a clean. With the environment in mind, the silicone feet can be recycled at home should you ever need to.
You can even cook on these boards as they are oven safe up to 240°C, and fully dishwasher safe too!
The new Smidge Vegan Wax Wrap is an excellent alternative to Cling Film, but also Beeswax wraps for anyone preferring a completely natural food storage solution. The Vegan Wax used is derived from Trees, Soy, Jojoba Oil and Pine Resin, and so is entirely organic. The patterns on the wraps are printed using Soy Ink, so the whole product is entirely eco-friendly. Vegan Wax Wraps are a perfect way to cut down on single-use plastics at home, as they are fully reusable and should you need to restore the wrap after many uses, you can easily do so by using our Smidge Vegan Wax Refresh Bars.
The wax is naturally anti-bacterial, and easy to use, simply wrap your hands around the wrap (containing your food or bowl) and the warmth will mould to the shape and create a perfect seal to keep things fresh!
Available in two sizes, we have the Wax Roll (measuring 37cm x 90cm) which is ideal to be cut into any sizes or shapes you may want. Alternatively, we have the Kitchen & Lunch set containing two medium wraps and a larger wrap too, perfect for using in the house and on the go.
At the end of their long lifespan, the wax wraps can be easily recycled in your home or local compost heap, simply cut it into strips first.
We are committed to providing you with excellent eco-friendly products, and expanding our supplier base of sustainable and environmentally conscious manufacturers. It’s horrifying to think that the UK produces over 5mn tonnes of single use plastic waste every year – enough to fill the Royal Albert Hall 1000x times! We all have a part to play in reducing plastic waste, and the future is looking brighter. Since the introduction of the 5p plastic bag charge, consumption has fallen by 85%. Whilst there’s still plenty to do, we can make a difference by starting with the little things.
